Foreign citizens entering Abkhazia by personal vehicle are required to purchase insurance according to local laws. Non-compliance results in a 600 ruble fine under Article 116 Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Insurance policies can be purchased from “Garant-Strakhovanie” at the Russian–Abkhaz border (24 hours), “Bzyb” and “Primorskoe” traffic police checkpoints (9:00–21:00), and in Sukhum near the “Sukhum-Market” shopping center (9:00–21:00).
