  • In Cambodia, people drive on the right side of the road.
  • Driving license can be obtained at the age of 18, and the minimum age for driving a motorcycle is 16.
  • The driver, as well as passengers in the front seat, must wear a seat belt.
  • Motorcyclists must wear a helmet.
  • The country has the following speed limits: 30 km/h - the permitted speed for motorcycles in the residential area, 40 km/h - for cars. The maximum speed outside residential areas is 90 km/h. For trucks, the maximum allowable speed is 60 km/h. If the truck has a trailer, a speed limit is 50 km/h.
  • The maximum permitted blood alcohol content at the wheel is 0.05 ppm.
  • It is forbidden to make a stop at a pedestrian crossing.
  • Children under 10 years old aren’t allowed to sit in the front seat.
  • Children under 4 years old must be transported in the back of the car in a special baby seat or restraint fixed with seat belts.
  • It is prohibited to use a mobile phone without a wireless headset.
  • Buses always have the right of way. When approaching the bus stop, the driver is obliged to slow down and, if necessary, to stop, allowing the bus to make a maneuver.
  • Drivers must give way to police cars, military vehicles, fire brigades, ambulances, if the latter give the appropriate signals or have flashing lights.
  • It is prohibited to park at the entrance of public buildings and private property.
  • It is forbidden to leave the vehicle on the public road for more than 72 hours.
  • In this country, you should give way to pedestrians, even in places without pedestrian crossings.
  • The condition of the roads in Cambodia leaves much to be desired.
  • If you are thinking of renting a car in Cambodia, carefully read points of the agreement, especially the insurance part.
  • Tourists are strongly advised not to travel outside the city at night, because in most cases there is no road illumination, and local drivers prefer driving without dipped beam.
