Lithuania documents Travel SIM card Driving tips for Lithuania:
  • Lithiania is a right-hand drive country.
  • The minimum driving age is 18 years.
  • Seat belt is a must.
  • Children under the age of 3 should be transported in the rear seat and sit in a special restraint. You are not allowed to transport children under the age of 12 with height less than 50 cm in the front seat.
  • From the 10th of November till the 1st of April you must drive only with winter or inter-season tires.
  • From the 10th of April till the 31st of October it is not allowed to drive with studded tires.
  • Always drive with the dipped headlights on.
  • Third party liability insurance is a must. You may purchase it on the border with Lithuania.
  • The maximum allowed speed limit in cities and settlements is 60 km/h. The maximum permitted speed limit on rural roads is 90 km/h, on highways from the 1st of October to the 1st of May the maximum speed is 130 km/h. For those with a driving experience less than 2 years the maximum allowed speed limit is 90 km/h, and 70 km/h on other roads.
  • The maximum allowed drink drive limit is 40 mg per 100 ml of blood.
  • Make sure you have a first-aid kit, fire extinguisher and warning triangle in your car.
  • Hands free is a must.
  • It is prohibited to use safety camera warning devices.
  • The police is authorized to check technical condition of the car.
