  • Driving in Austria is on the right side of the road.
  • The maximum allowed speed limit is 50 km/h in urban areas, 100 km/h in rural areas and 130 km/h on highways.
  • Seat belt is a must. Buckle up. Otherwise, you will be fined on site.
  • The minimum driving age in Austria is 18 years. The maximum rental age is 21 years.
  • The maximum permitted alcohol limit is 50 mg per 100 ml of blood.
  • Hands-free is a must. Otherwise, you will be fined on site.
  • There are plenty of mobile and fixed speed cameras in Austria. Keep this in mind.
  • You are prohibited to use safety camera warning devices in Austria.
  • If you travel with children, make sure they don’t sit in the front seat. Instead, use a proper rear-facing child seat. Before it make sure you have disabled your airbag. For children over 12 years of age, use a booster cushion.
  • You must have a warning road triangle as well as a reflective vest to use in case of a car accident.
  • You must have an EU symbol with an appropriate letter standing for your country on the license plate number. Otherwise, attach a proper sticker sold at any gas station.
  • If you are going to use Austrian highways, you must buy an appropriate sticker.
  • First-aid kit is a must.
  • In winter, you are to use appropriate winter tyres.

  • Serbia drives on the right.
  • The minimum driving age in Serbia is 18 years. At 17 one may drive a car only with guidance and direction from parents.
  • To rent a car in Serbia, you must meet the following conditions: 1) aged at least 21; 2) have 2+ driving experience.
  • Seat belt is always a must.
  • The maximum allowed speed in cities is 50 km/h, on open roads — 80 km/h, on express roadways — 100 km/h, and 120 km/h on highways. In school areas, slow down to 30 km/h.
  • The maximum permitted drink drive limit is 30 mg per 100 ml of blood.
  • Always yield the way to the trams.
  • Hands free is a must.
  • Make sure you have a fire extinguisher and third party liability insurance.

  • Serbia has toll roads. The toll fees depend on the dimensions of the vehicle.You will have to pay more if your car is registered somewhere outside Serbia.
  • In Serbia, parking zones are marked with different colours according to the duration of parking: red zones stand for "1 hour parking", yellow zones — for "2 hour parking" and green zones stand for "3 hour parking".
