How to get an International Driving Permit in China?
According to the Vienna Convention of 1968, International Driving Permits (IDPs) are authorized to be issued by national governments or designated organizations. In most countries, this function is carried out by automobile associations affiliated with the AIT/FIA, the police, or other authorized entities. To obtain an International Driving Permit in China, you must possess a local license and apply to the relevant authorities here (please notify us if the link is not working). If you hold a national license not issued in China, you must verify if your license permits you to drive and if you require an IDP. What do you need to know to drive in China?

- To drive freely in China, you need to get a local driver's license. Keep in mind that your national and international driving licenses are invalid in China. If you are going to stay in the country for less than 3 months, you must obtain a temporary license. Before you are allowed to drive, you will need to attend classes on the local traffic rules. You should always keep your temporary license with you and produce it with national one. This document gives you the right to drive small cars, as well as cars with automatic transmission. If you plan to stay in China for a long time, process a permanent license.
