Car cosmetics

Every car owner wants his car to be good-looking and to retain perfect appearance as long as possible. There are various means that help to maintain the cleanliness of a cabin and open surfaces of the body. Such means include cleaning, washing, protective, polishing products and chemicals. Let’s try to understand each type of car cosmetics in more detail.

What is included in the concept of “car cosmetics”

The main three components that make up the list of car care cosmetics are polishes, cleaners and car shampoos.

As a rule, car shampoos are needed to care for car paint surfaces. Car shampoo gives shine, protects from scratches, perfectly removes dirt, since it contains surfactants. Foaming of car shampoos is strengthened in comparison with house washing-up liquids. In addition, the latter have an elevated (alkaline) pH level, and this threatens the destruction of the auto-coating. Therefore, you can’t use house (and even more kitchen) care products for car. Shampoos can enhance expressiveness and brightness of color.

Polishes are used after washing and complete drying of the body. They allow the treated surfaces to shine, renew colors and make them more bright.

Cleaners save the car from impurities of various types.

Classification of car shampoos

Shampoos are divided on the principle of readiness for consumption on ready-made and shampoo-concentrates (in powder or liquid forms).

According to the principle of application methods, shampoo can be used for hand washing and for contactless washing, using a foam generator and special foam sets with nozzles.

According to the principle of action, car shampoo can be a cleaner, a conditioner, a polish with wax and just shampoo with wax. So, the correctly chosen shampoo can protect the car from the effects of ultraviolet rays and salt, clean it of resin, traces of insects and other contaminants, “treat” for microfractures.

All shampoos make it easier to clean the car.

Classification of polishes

Polishes for glass transform glass into a surface of impeccable cleanliness and transparency. You can also get rid of the haze on headlights with side lights, if you use a polish for glass.

The polish of the appropriate purpose helps to protect chromed parts of the car. It has an anti-corrosion function that allows to form a special film on chrome parts.

A polish for tires is used to make rubber of car tires plastic and at the same time bright. It makes microfractures invisible and also protects surface against ultraviolet rays. Polishes for tire caring can be protective, cleaning and polishing.

The most common type of car polishes are those that are made to care for paint and varnish coating. With the help of such products, it is possible to protect the paint from dirt, water, oil stains, etc., as an additional layer is created on the surface.

A lot of surfaces inside a car, in a cabin, are made of plastic. They often have a static attraction and just collect dust. The polish creates an anti-static effect, cleans surfaces and gives them shine.

Polishes can be abrasive, eliminating the damaged top layer of paint and varnish coating (scratches, stains) and protective. It is better to combine them or use only protective one. The latter simplifies car washing, and its teflon base makes it possible to protect the car body from unwanted natural influence within six months.

Also, polishes can be liquid, solid (pasty), creamy or aerosol. Liquid polishes are the least economical, they spread. It is long and difficult to provide protection with a solid polish (but the shine of the body surfaces from such polish is much more expressive, and the color is deeper). Creamy polishes contain wax in combination with silicone. Aerosol polishes perfectly support the aesthetic appearance of a car, but are quickly consumed and don’t have protective functions.

Wax and synthetic polishes differ in cost and function. The first are inexpensive, easy to use, but retain their quality of only for three washes. After that, the treatment must be repeated.

Synthetic polishes are quite expensive, there are three types of them:

Silicone polishes are similar to wax ones in terms of effect; polymer polishes are more stable, and impeccable coating remains almost for two months; cleaners-restorers are intended for liquidation of an old paint from a body surface.

Classification of cleaners

Cleaners can be intended for glass, wheel disks, vinyl, rubber and plastic, and are also capable of transmuting rust. The treatment of a cabin with the help of cleaners makes it possible to get rid of all kinds of impurities, including oil stains and tobacco plaque.

You have to be very careful with a rust transformer: it eliminates corrosion stains, but can leave marks on the undamaged paint and varnish coating of the body.

So, car cosmetics are very diverse today. This article, as well as the desire to have a good-looking car, will help you to orient in them.
