The Chevrolet Corvette C8 generation has already given us a mid-engine revolution, a hybrid all-wheel-drive system, and a factory hypercar. But American tuning company Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) wasn’t finished — taking the Corvette E-Ray hybrid as a base, they’ve built a Bugatti-rivaling beast with up to 1,586 horsepower. Here’s the full breakdown.
A Quick History: From C8 to ZR1X
The current Chevrolet Corvette C8 debuted in mid-2019, marking the first time in the model’s history that the engine moved to a mid-mounted layout. Four years later — coinciding with the Corvette’s 70th anniversary — Chevrolet introduced the Corvette E-Ray, the first hybrid and all-wheel-drive Corvette ever built.
Then, in summer 2024, Chevrolet unveiled the Corvette ZR1X — a full-blown hypercar combining the E-Ray’s hybrid system with the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 LT7 engine (1,079 hp) from the Corvette ZR1. Together, the ZR1X puts out an impressive 1,267 hp. For most, that would be enough. SVE saw it differently.

Who Is Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE)?
SVE has been building high-horsepower GM vehicles for decades. Their pedigree includes the Yenko/SC Camaro — a coupe and convertible producing 1,013 hp — introduced six years ago. The Corvette project follows that same philosophy: take something already fast, and make it absurdly faster.
What SVE Did to the Corvette E-Ray
SVE’s engineers started with the standard Corvette E-Ray and completely transformed its naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 LT2 (502 hp). Here’s what changed under the hood:
- Twin 58mm Garrett turbochargers with ceramic ball bearings and water cooling
- Forged crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons
- Valve covers with oil separators
- Reground camshafts
- Upgraded intake manifold with intercooling
- High-flow fuel system
- New engine management ECU
- Custom exhaust system (optional stainless steel upgrade available)
Crucially, the hybrid components were left untouched. The front-axle electric motor (163 hp), its reduction gearbox, and the 1.9 kWh traction battery all carry over from the standard E-Ray — meaning the car retains its all-wheel-drive capability and hybrid boost.
To handle the increased power, SVE also reinforced the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and added a boost-by-gear function. This system tailors engine output to each specific gear, limiting torque in lower gears to prevent excessive wheelspin and keeping the car manageable.

Power Output: Three Stages of Madness
The SVE Corvette C8 Yenko/SC is offered in three performance tiers:
- Stage I: 1,014 hp (up from the stock 665 hp)
- Stage II: 1,267 hp
- Stage III: 1,586 hp
To put those numbers in perspective: the factory Corvette ZR1X hypercar produces 1,267 hp — which only matches SVE’s middle Stage II tune. The top Stage III version surpasses even Bugatti Chiron territory.
How Fast Is It? Expected Performance
SVE hasn’t released official 0–60 or quarter-mile figures for the Yenko/SC yet. However, looking at the factory ZR1X as a baseline gives a strong indication of what to expect:
- 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h): Under 2 seconds
- Quarter mile: Under 9 seconds
Given that the 1,586 hp Stage III Yenko/SC significantly outpowers the ZR1X, it’s reasonable to expect even quicker times — especially in the quarter mile.

Exterior and Personalization Options
SVE gives buyers plenty of ways to make their Yenko/SC stand out. Available customization includes:
- 10 factory body colors to choose from
- 9 color options for the signature graphic package (applied to the sides, hood, roof, and trunk lid)
- Optional graphics finishes: carbon fiber or reflective white inserts
- Exclusive forged wheels: 20 inches front / 21 inches rear
Interior Touches
Inside, the Yenko/SC receives several bespoke details that reinforce its exclusive character:
- Embroidered Yenko logo on the headrests
- Custom floor mats
- Additional interior trim and badging reflecting the car’s special status

Availability, Warranty, and Pricing
The Corvette C8 Yenko/SC is available in both coupe and roadster body styles and can be ordered through authorized General Motors dealers in the United States and Canada.
SVE backs their engine modifications with a 3-year / 60,000 km (37,000 mile) powertrain warranty — a reassuring commitment on a build of this power level.
Pricing has not yet been officially announced. For reference, the factory Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X starts at $207,000, so expect the fully built Yenko/SC — particularly in Stage III trim — to command a significant premium over that.
SVE Corvette C8 Yenko/SC vs. Corvette ZR1X: Key Differences
- Base platform: Both use the Corvette C8 mid-engine architecture
- Hybrid system: Both retain the E-Ray’s 163 hp front motor and 1.9 kWh battery
- ZR1X engine: Twin-turbo 5.5L V8 LT7 (1,079 hp) — 1,267 hp combined
- Yenko/SC engine: Twin-turbo 6.2L V8 LT2 — up to 1,423 hp (ICE only) / 1,586 hp combined in Stage III
- Top power advantage: Yenko/SC Stage III exceeds the ZR1X by 319 hp

Final Thoughts
The SVE Corvette C8 Yenko/SC is a remarkable example of American tuning culture at its most extreme. By layering a twin-turbo conversion onto the already-capable E-Ray hybrid platform, SVE has created a car that embarrasses a factory hypercar at Stage II — and enters genuinely rarefied air at Stage III. Whether 1,586 hp in a Corvette is thrilling or terrifying probably depends on the gear you’re in.
